Employees

Environmental works are kept in-house where possible. We have a hands on approach for all environmental work undertaken by Ecology Services Ltd. For recent contracts, in-house employees have been on site on a daily basis to supervise projects and field workers. We consider it very important to be in the field, managing and/or supervising projects to enable any problems to be avoided/amended as soon as possible.

Managing Director/Principle Consultant Ecologist:

Lyn Eccles-Sargeant B.Sc. (Hons) Environmental Management, MCIEEM and NEBOSH. Highly experienced ecologist with over 17 years consultancy experience.  Skilled in EcIA, project management, licenses held include Bats (Class 1), Great crested newt including LICL and White-clawed crayfish and holder of several Great crested newt and Badger Natural England (EPS) mitigation licences.  Other specialist skills include Otter, Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, NVC & Habitat Management Plans. City and Guilds Confined Space (Medium).

Senior Consultant Ecologist:

Su O’Neill B.A. (Hons) PGCE, Affiliate Member of CIEEM. Highly experienced ecologist with over 13 years consultancy experience. Su’s specialism is bats, being a Class 2 licence holder and holder of several EPS mitigation licences. Licensed Great crested newt surveyor, licensed and holder of a Natural England Conservation Licence. Su specialises in habitat and protected species surveys, including EcIA, River Corridor Surveys, Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, BREEAM’s and Natural England European Protected Species (EPS) mitigation Method Statements. Species works include mammal surveys, including Water vole, Badger, Barn owl, Otter, Reptile surveys and Habitat Suitability Index (H.S.I.) assessments. City and Guilds Confined Space (Medium).

Senior Consultant Ecologist:

Simon Booth has a life long interest in conservation and wildlife and has 10 years consultancy experience. Simon is an Affiliate Member of CIEEM. Protected species licences include Great crested newt, Bat (Class 2), Lesser silver water beetle and Barn owl. Simon specialises in EcIA, Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, botanical surveys including Phase 2 and National Vegetation Classification (NVC) surveys. He also undertakes Breeding Bird Surveys (BBS) and assessments, Reptile surveys, Aquatic macro-invertebrate surveys and BREEAM for sustainable developments. City and Guilds Confined Space (Medium).

Consultant Ecologist:

Peter Bonney B.Sc (Hons) Ecology & Conservation Management, Affiliate Member of CIEEM. Licensed Great crested newt surveyor and Water Vole (Class 1). Experienced in designing surveys and mitigation for Water vole adhering to the 2016 Guidance.  Peter specialises in Breeding Bird Surveys (BBS), Common Bird Census (CBC) and Wetland Bird Surveys (WeBS). He also undertakes Badger, Otter and Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, Habitat Regulation Assessments and BREEAM for sustainable developments.

Consultant Ecologist:

Zoe Foster M.Sc. Biodiversity & Conservation, B.Sc (Hons) Animal Management. Licensed Great crested newt surveyor and Bat Licence (Level 2) holder. Species surveys undertaken include Bat, Water vole and Otter Surveys, Reptile and Amphibian surveys, Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys and Habitat Suitability Index (H.S.I.) assessments. Zoe is specialising in bats and designing bat mitigation for Natural England EPS development licences. City and Guilds Confined Space (Medium).

Consultant Ecologist:

Bethany Walker M.Sc. Ecology and the Environment, B.Sc. (Hons) Geography Grad Member of CIEEM. Licensed to survey for Great crested newts.  Beth’s specialism is Water voles (Class 1) complying with the new 2016 guidance for surveys and mitigation. Beth undertakes fauna surveys including Otter, Badger and Bat surveys, and flora surveys including Extended Phase 1 Surveys.  Habitat Management Plans and species mitigation are also apart of Beth’s role.

Consultant Ecologist:

Charlotte Wood M.Sc. Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security, B.Sc. (Hons) Biology Grad Member of CIEEM. Licensed to survey for Great crested newts.  Charlotte’s specialisms are surveying for Water vole, Otter, Badger and Bat surveys, and flora surveys including Extended Phase 1 Surveys.  Habitat Management Plans and species mitigation are also apart of Charlotte’s role.

Health and Safety Advisor/Office Manager:

James Sargeant joined the team in 2015 following a career as a Manager at Royal Mail. James manages Health and Safety and Human Resources, ensuring the smooth running of the company.

Accounts:

Maureen Cusack joined the team in 2016, she manages the company accounts.

Sub-Contractors:

Sub-contractor requirements vary greatly depending upon specific projects. All sub-contractors are either qualified to degree level in the relevant subject, are listed as an accredited agent by the Environment Agency or other similar body, hold a CV with at least 3 years experience for the associated work, or are trained by Ecology Services Ltd. Sub-contractors are chosen very carefully, as they represent our company.
