Otters caught on camera
Whilst utilising camera traps during a Badger Survey to determine if a badger sett was active, we had the good fortune of capturing footage of two otters commuting through an area of woodland close to a river. Whilst the two clips follow each other directly, they were captured almost a week apart. Watch the second clip closely to see if you notice anything that might give further information. (For ease of viewing, the video has been edited to repeat each otter pass three times).
The European otter is protected under the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017 (as amended) (The Habitat Regulations) and the Wildlife and Countryside Act (W&CA) 1981 (as amended). As amended by The Conservation of Habitats and Species (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019, which continue the same provision for European protected species, licensing requirements and protected areas after Brexit.
